(VIRTUAL) The History of Baseball in Hot Springs

May 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CDT

Program livestreamed at facebook.com/garlandcountylibrary and youtube.com/garlandcolibrary

It was a match that made sense: America’s Pastime and the American Spa. Growing up in the uncertain years following the U.S. Civil War, each played a role in healing a nation. By the end of the nineteenth century, both the sport and the city had made a name for themselves in the national press, leading to an encounter that would spark half a century of springtime rendezvous. But what happened after one finally left the other behind, and the lights went out in their relationship?

Join Hot Springs National Park Ranger Tyler Young on a virtual tour of baseball’s golden years in Hot Springs and a “Where Are They Now” look at how baseball’s notables and their Hot Springs haunts fared in the years following the breakup.
